Disc Protrusion also known as Herniated Disc
A disc is a fibrocartilage tissue located between two vertebrae. The purpose of the disc is to protect the vertebrae from injury when bending, extending, twisting or side bending. Because of injury, degeneration etc., the outer covering of the disc becomes weakened and the inner material of the disc puts pressure on the side or back of the disc and bulges it. The protrusion can press on nerves or the spinal cord causing lower back pain and pain down either leg or both.
